Why BYKlyn? The diversity within the BYKlyn community is a beautiful thing and it's a big part of why I love this studio. People of all races, cultures, fitness levels, ages, sexes, etc can come together for 45min to just sweat it out, and it truly connects us. You can feel that positive energy, that "spread love" vibe, that Brooklyn spirit... it's unlike anywhere else I've taught and it's quite inspiring.

What’s your class really like: I coach a dynamic, high intensity ride. Music is important to me so I create beat driven rides that also have purpose and result-oriented programming built into them. I encourage you to feel an array of both physical and emotional ups and downs as we move through the workout. It's a journey... clip in and enjoy the ride!

What’s your music vibe: Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Electronic... some of my fav artists are Imagine Dragons, Galantis, Demi Lovato, Beyonce, Major Lazer, Kendrick Lamar, The Chainsmokers

Life beyond the BYKbox: With a background in fashion & fitness, I am developing my own fit-leisure brand...coming 2018! Socially, I enjoy eating out with friends, exploring NYC, and I'm all about spontaneous dance parties... no shame in my dance party game! I also enjoy doing hot yoga & strength training. Can't live without Coffee and PB. I love to travel and I'm always down for a road trip in my red car, which I've named Esmeralda because she's a little gypsy, hippie soul like me. :)

Anything else you want us to know:
I spent most of last year living on an island... from Ometepe, Nicaragua to St Croix, USVI... yes, it was amazing and no, I will never take a hot shower for granted again!

Why BYKlyn? BYKlyn embodies a synthesis of my two passions, the borough and culture I grew up in and high intensity endurance training. Every group of riders that fills the BYKbox feels like old friends coming together with a common goal - improvement through grit, sweat, and hard work.

What’s your class really like: Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a beginner, I will challenge you. I encourage you to tune into your body and control ride and pace. I aim to inspire you to push past your comfort zone.

What’s your music vibe: Think broad range: from infectious electronic beats, pop, rock, and hip hop, to reggaeton, bachata and other Latin pop mixes. Maybe Deorro and Tiesto, throwback DJs like Robert Miles and Darude and plenty of Avicii, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Gaga, Bey-ce, Rihanna, Drake, etc. So much good music out there that inspires!

Life beyond the BYKbox: When not riding, in or outside, I work for a human rights litigation NGO. I support a broad range of impact litigation aimed at improving national standards for protecting human rights and uphold the rule of law around the world. Read and ride, y'all!!

Anything else you want us to know:
Last year I qualified for my first ever NYC marathon, only to get injured. The goal now is to rebuild and strategize for next year and avoide past mistakes (like running with injuries!). Meanwhile, I'm determined to get many more road miles on two wheels and welcome riding partners to join me! Oh and I like to kick and punch things, taekwondo did the trick for kicking for a few years, and I'm stoked to get into some boxing classes soon to explore that sweet punch flavor!

Why BYKlyn? Why not? What's not to like. The vibe is Brooklyn all day every day... gritty, real and diverse.

What's your class really like? It depends. One day it could be a party on the bike. The next day we're digging deep in the trenches. But it's all good!

What's your music vibe? I love music and love to channel my inner DJ in my classes so you'll always get a healthy mix of every and anything. In my ultimate cycling class I would have my fave artists performing. What? A girl can dream?!

Life beyond the BYKbox: When I'm not at BYKlyn I teach at my own art-based play-school.

Jo Brenner

Name: Joanna “Jo” Brenner

Hometown:Frederick, MD

Why BYKlyn? BYKlyn is a lot of things — friendly, personable, diverse, down to earth, tough, spunky (I could do this all day) — but, at its heart of hearts, it's about YOU. It's not about trends; it's about celebrating individuality, whatever your fitness intentions are. It's hard to feel out of place when there are so many different kinds of people supporting each others' goals, and I dig that.

What’s your class really like: I like to fuse high intensity, sweat pouring down your face drills with humor. Think of it as pushing yourself beyond your perceived limitations by embracing discomfort rather than shying away from it ... while I say goofy things into a microphone :)

What’s your music vibe: Like the fitness version of Coachella, with the occasional 80s/90s throwback party. My class is music-driven, so when in doubt, find the beat.

Life beyond the BYKbox: I'm a journalist by day, passionate about stories with moral force and very clean style and grammar. I have a beautiful and slightly diabolical orange cat named Gouda ("Gooey") and in my spare time I like running and yoga, reading the internet, and eating.
